. : Part 3:.
"Dudettes, wake up! Come on, it's time for the beach! Let's go! Wake up!"
The sound of shouting and knocking at the RV door woke me up. I slid out of the bag and to the door. (Why am I the only light sleeper?) I opened it to see Alfred wide awake and smiling.
"What is it, Al?" I mumbled.
"It's already nine dudette! It's time to walk to the beach!"
"Wait, what? We haven't even had breakfast yet. Who else is awake?"
"Artie and Ludwig."
"You wanker! How many times to I have to tell you not to call me that?!"
"Arthur, please no yelling when I'm not fully awake. Al, please wake up all the guys first. Until that point, I want to sleep!" I was about to close the door of the RV when Ludwig suddenly appeared and stopped it.
"{Name}, it's already ten. It's time to get up. It'll take us awhile to walk to the beach, so get up to we can make breakfast."
I stopped closing the door and looked at Ludwig. "Who's making breakfast then?"
"Feliciano and Francis."
"Wake them up, and I will get the other's up and dressed. No-one inside until I open this door again, work for you?"
"Ja."
I closed the door. "Guys. Up. Food." I went over to Elizabeta sleeping on her couch/bed thing. "Liz! Up and at 'em!" I pulled at the end of her sleeping bag, making her slide out of it. I went over to Victoria and pulled at the end of her sleeping bag as well. "Victoria, up!"
"{Name}!" Victoria whined.
"Up. Dressed. No-one can start breakfast until we are dressed. I'll make real coffee for you, okay?"
"Mnnnnn." Victoria slowly rolled off the bed and hit the ground with a thump. "Kay, I'm up now."
"Get Liz up, alright?" I left the commons and went into the bedroom. "Mei-chan. Breakfast and the beach is waiting!" I took the end of her sleeping bag and started to pull.
"Wait!" I stopped pulling the bag and saw Mei crawl out of her cave, book and a LED light in her hand. "I'm wide awake, I was reading for a few minutes."
"So I had to go get the door?" I asked, hands on my hips as I stood at the foot of the bed.
"Yes," Mei answered slowly. I didn't change my expression as I grabbed her sleeping bag and yanked. Hard enough that Mei squealed, and fell out onto the floor.
"Get dressed. We don't need to roll up our sleeping bags though." Mei and I got dressed into our swimsuits and put our beach clothes over it. For Mei, it was a long summer dress, while for me, it was {choice dress}. We packed our day bags, including a towel and removing anything that might be harmed by water, though I kept my notebook. We opened the door to see Victoria already dressed and Elizabeta just coming out of the bathroom. Victoria was wearing her normal blue dress and was struggling putting her hair into pigtails.
"Victoria, stop, let me help." Elizabeta made quick work of Victoria's hair and expertly tied the red ribbons around each tail. She was also dressed for the beach, wearing a green skirt and a green shirt. "There, done. {Name}, did you repack your day bags?"
"Yes. You can go into the room, we're both done. If you take your sleeping bags into the bedroom, we'll move the beds back into couches."
Elizabeta and Victoria did what I explained and I moved the beds back as Mei went into the bathroom first. As she came back out, I went in for a minute or two. When I came back out, all the other girls were ready, so I opened the door to be greeted by the warm sun and a faint ocean breeze. The campsite was nice and open, but still had a bunch of trees everywhere, making the nearby highway unable to be heard. A grouping of four tents were around the area set out around the RV.
"Get up, Feliciano! Now!" Ludwig stood outside one of the tents, and everyone was accounted for except two Italians. "Get up now or I'm coming in!"
"Having trouble getting them up?" I asked, walking over to him. "Normally, I use food to get Feliciano up. Lovino, I use something he hates." I suggested.
Ludwig thought for a moment before barking out his threat. "Get up or else I will let Arthur cook breakfast for you!"
Arthur looked over. "My cooking isn't that bad! You just can't appreciate it!"
"Veeehhh~! Please don't!" A second later, Feliciano was out and running a bit away. I had to turn away and face the RV as well as covering up Mei's eyes.
"Feliciano! Put on some pants!"
After Ludwig finally caught up with Feliciano and had gotten both Italians up and dressed, Feliciano and Francis were up in the tiny RV kitchen, while the rest of us girls had found some camping chairs and were outside enjoying the warm sun. "Elizabeta, Mei! I have some sunscreen, you might want to put some on." I was already putting some sunscreen on my face and shoulders when I asked the two other fair skinned girls. They gladly took it, while Victoria stayed in the sun. After we were done protecting ourselves, we were back in the chairs, happy that it was summer.
"Bellas! The food is done!"
I got up and went into the RV. Breakfast was french toast with hash browns and bacon. A few of the guys were already sitting around the dinette with the windows open, as the RV was filled with light steam from the cooking.
"I also made some coffee, but I didn't know how many people wanted some!" Feliciano announced.
Victoria went straight for the coffee as the rest of us lined up for the food. We took up the couch, Elizabeta, Mei, and myself eating on one as Victoria was seated on the other one with Lovino and Feliciano
"What's the plan for today?" Elizabeta asked.
"We head to the beach and spend all day there! We can go adventuring up the river too!" Alfred cheered.
"Lunch will be at a cafe on the beachfront, since we are eating an early breakfast. DInner will be back here. Who wants to cook?" Ludwig asked, coffee in one hand.
"I'll do half," Elizabeta volunteered.
"I'll help," Victoria called out, before Arthur could volunteer for the job.
Breakfast was finished quickly and the dishes were washed within the hour. We packed up all we need and once we were all gathered outside, Arthur locked up the RV.
"Alright dudes! Let's go!" Alfred fist bumped the air and led the way, carrying the large umbrella on his shoulders. We followed behind him, since we somehow trusted the thought that he might be leading in the right direction. We wound our way through the RV park, and slowly, the sounds of the ocean reached our ears.
"Come on, Mei!" I grabbed the smaller girl's hand and ran forward on the path. Slowly the hard ground faded to sand, making it harder to run along the path. We were heading up a small incline, and when we reached the top, a gorgeous scene lay in front of us. The golden beach lay in front of us, slowly turning into white waves and then blue ocean. It wasn't the most crowded beach, but still had a good number of people around. To our left was a small river, slowly widening as it reached the sand before fading into the ocean. Behind us, I heard footsteps and saw Victoria catching up with us, holding her sunhat on her head to keep it from flying off. She looked like something out of a picture.
"Why did you run ahead like that?"
I motioned around us. "I know you grew up surrounded by ocean, but it's still so beautiful!"
"That I can agree with. It reminds me of home. Come on let's go!" All of us dropped our bags on the top of the slope and ran down towards to river, kicking off our shoes as we went. Mei went in carefully, holding her dress so it wouldn't touch the water. Victoria just ran in, dragging me behind her. The river went up to our calves, but since both her dress and my skirt only went to our knees, it wasn't in any danger of getting soaked. We all giggled and ran back out to the warm sand, as the river water was freezing cold.
"So, who agreed to make me carry your stuff?" Elizabeta came up to us, the forgotten day bags in hand.
"Sorry. It was just so tempting." I did my best to look chastised, but the fact that my feet were already dry and burning didn't help. I looked around after Elizabeta sighed. Behind us was the beginnings of a rock wall, and above that was the public parking area, which easily lead towards the cafe Ludwig had talked about. "This place is perfect!"
Alfred stuck the umbrella into the sand and opened it up. "I hereby dub this land ours!"
Slightly underneath the shade of the umbrella, I set up the giant towel that Elizabeta had brought for us girls as the rest put our day-bags on. Elizabeta took off her clothes that were over her bikini and borrowed the sunscreen again. I saw Victoria do the same, as Mei seemed hesitant.
"Mei, are you alright?" I asked.
"I'm not used to wearing just the swimsuit," she softly said.
"You don't have to if you don't want to."
"Are you going to?"
"If we're going to be running around in the ocean, yes." And as I said this, I took off my own beach clothes, revealing my {swimsuit preference}.
"Ohonhonhon~. {Name} iz being revealing today, oiu?"
I turned and saw Francis looking at me. "Don't make me send Liz to get you." I turned away quickly and ran into someone heading in the opposite direction. I hit them hard enough I fell to the ground (which was a soft landing, due to the sand). I looked up and saw Lovino looking embarrassed that he had actually run into me. Then I realized why. He was already wearing nothing but his swim trunks at this point. And I was only wearing my swimsuit. I heard the clicking of Elizabeta's camera going off near us, and both of us turned bright red.
"S-sorry, b-bella!" And away he was again.
Mei was there and helped me up to my feet. "Thanks." I glanced over at Elizabeta, who was reviewing pictures on her camera and mouthed the words: "I will harm you!" at her. I looked around our "camp". Arthur had made himself comfortable underneath the umbrella, with a book out. Ludwig was also resting underneath the umbrella, but I could see he was keeping a watchful eye on Feliciano (probably to make sure he didn't follow any pretty girls). The rest were out of my view at the moment, but I was pulled away from my watching by a very excited Mei (who finally took off her sundress) and Victoria.
"{Name}, let's go play in the river more!" I followed the two into the river again and soon, we were running around in the cool water and having a splashing war between us to keep us cool under the hot sun. I had aimed to hit Mei with another splash of water, but she had jumped out of the way, making the victim of my wave of water, Lovino. He turned to look at me, and all I did was smile innocently. He lowered to splash water on me, but I was able to jumped out of the way like Mei, making himself hit Elizabeta with the water. He paled slightly and went to use me as a human shield against Elizabeta, who didn't care who got wet. She had borrowed a bucket from Alfred (I don't know what he was building in the sand, but he was excited about it), and had attacked us both with the full bucket. Even though we were now both soaked, I couldn't help but burst into giggles.
"What the hell, {Name}?"
"I don't know why," I said in between giggles, "It's just funny!"
"{Name}, the water is no longer freezing!" Mei called out, a little farther down the river, where the water only went up to her ankles. "Want to go in the ocean?"
"Sure!" I called back and turned to Lovino. "Want to come with?"
"Nothing better to do."
Without thinking, I grabbed his arm and Victoria's and went to follow Mei (as Elizabeta went to give Alfred back his bucket to finish whatever in the world he was making). After walking a few feet, I realized that I was holding Lovino's hand, but knew that if I let go now, it would have been awkward. I let my face blush a bit, and hoped I would look like it was the fault of the sun and the heat. Before I had caught up with Mei at the water's edge, Elizabeta called out to us.
"Guys, drink some water!" She handed out water bottles to everyone and also passed around a marker to write names on them. She had brought one for Lovino as well. "Don't want you guys getting dehydrated in this heat."
After everyone had drunk at least a quarter of the bottle, she collected them again. "Now, you may go chase waves!"
Victoria went first, jumping over waves and running in and out of the foam. I went next with Mei, as she took my hand before following Victoria into the waves. "It's cold!" she squealed when the water wrapped around her legs.
"What did you expect, a hot tub?" I giggled and watched the sand be dragged around my ankles. Something caught my eye in the water and I bent to pick it up.
"What is that?" Mei looked over at what I had in my hand.
I dunked it in the water to wash it off and showed her. "It's a piece of those sea glass things! They are tons of fun to find and collect!" I turned the piece of green sea glass around in my hand.
Victoria had come over to see what we were looking at. "Sea glass! I didn't know this beach had them, I thought they were more by Oceanbay Beach."
"Lucky find then!" I closed my hand around the piece. "I'll be right back. Don't want to lose it."
I took off to the camp again. The only people that were left at the camp was Arthur and Ludwig. Arthur was a little ways off building something out of sand with Feliciano next to the river.
"What are you doing back here, love?" Arthur asked, looking over his book.
I held out my hand to show him. "Sea glass. Didn't want to lose it, so I'm putting it in my bag."
"When do you want to get lunch? Since we had such a large breakfast."
"We can wait a little bit. Don't think we would want to leave the ocean very soon."
"If needed, Alfred and myself can go get some small snacks from the cafe right there and bring them down here."
"That's fine then. Now, I must be off. The water feels amazing. Will you join us?"
"I feel fine just getting a break out of work, I like being outside reading."
"I might join you later. Well, see you later then!" I started to head away when I was stopped by Alfred.
"Hey, dudette! Do ya like collecting that kind of stuff? Shells and glass?"
"A little, why?"
"I think it would be cool if I could decorate my castle with 'em! Could you find me a bunch?"
"I won't be able to carry them though. I still will be running around and such."
"I got it!" Alfred ran the few steps to the campsite and dug through the backpack he had brought. He then handed me a little plastic bag. "You can put them in here! You'll only need to use one hand them!"
I finally gave in to the hyper guy. "Fine, I'll be back soon then."
I went back down to the ocean where Mei was still having issues with the temperature of the water while Victoria was having the time of her life. Elizabeta was also in the waves now, trying to convince Mei to come farther out into the waves. Lovino was at the edge of the water, doing God-knows what.
"Hey, Lovino? Why aren't you playing in the water?" I ask, tilting my head to the side.
"I'm just watching out for you Ragazze."
I laughed a little. "We have Liz and Victoria here. They can fend for themselves."
"It's not them I'm watching out for," Lovino mumbled and turned his head to the side.
I tilted my head again (this time in confusion), but was interrupted by Mei grabbing my arm. "Why do you have a bag, {Name}?"
"Oh, Al wanted us to collect seashells for the castle he is making with Feli. Come on, there's supposed to be lots here!"
Victoria and Elizabeta joined in our hunt for pretty shells. We spent a long time jumping over the waves and bending over to try and get the shells before the waves took them away again. We were up to our thighs in the water, which we were slowly getting used to. Mei was a genius at finding the shells that were whole with Victoria. Both of them even found a few whole sand dollars, which I took a large interest in, as I almost never find whole ones. Elizabeta had less luck though. She normally found all the broken bits and pieces. We had been out and playing for at least an hour or two when we heard a call.
"Hey guys!" We all looked over. Arthur, Alfred, Ludwig, and Feliciano were at the water's edge and Alfred was getting our attention. "We're going to go get food, alright? It's already three."
"Who's going on the food run?" I asked.
"Us four. Francis is nowhere to be found, and Kiku-san will be watching the camp," Ludwig explained. "We'll get the food for our late lunch."
"I'll keep watch with him. I'm not having any luck here anyway," Elizabeta volunteered. "Want to join me Victoria?"
Victoria nodded and followed the group back to the camp. Alfred had taken the slightly filled bag of shells, leaving me free to run around with Mei. We were finally brave enough to go out a bit in the ocean. We ran around a lot in the ocean up to our waists, jumping over the incoming waves and giggling when the waves kept pushing us back to the shore.
"Oi, ragazze!"
I looked up to see Lovino getting our attention. "What?" I yelled back.
"The food's arrived!"
I took Mei's hand and helped her reach the shore where Lovino was waiting for us. We headed back to the camp (which took less time with the tide coming in) where a picnic was laid out for everyone. Elizabeta came to meet us with our towels in hand. I wrapped it around my shoulders and fell down on the blanket, letting the sun warm my shoulders.
"This is so much fun," I sighed as Mei agreed with me.
|Time skip to keep the Part short~|
As the time turned to around eight, we had left the beach, and slowly made our way back to the RV campsite. Mei had started falling asleep on the way back, so I had to carry her in a piggyback. Dinner passed in a blur, as I was also very tired. Glad that we had washed all the sand off of us outside, beds were made, and Mei and I crashed out on the couches.
"{Name}?"
"Yes, Mei? What is it?" I rolled over to face her as our beds were a foot or two apart.
"Are we going to the town tomorrow?"
"Yes. After lunch, we're heading back to the beach to play with kites Alfred brought with us, since it's going to be windy tomorrow."
I heard Mei yawn. "I can't wait. It's so much fun being with everybody. Well, àm-an {Name}."
A few minutes later, I knew Mei was asleep. It was quiet outside too, it seems the beach had tired everyone out. I rolled over in my sleeping bag again and let sleep claim me.
{To Be Continued}
Oceans and Lakes are the best! If I could go sailing again, I would in a heartbeat. Same goes for kayaking or canoeing.
I would never be able to swim in the ocean. Way too cold. Would rather swim in the tiny river, because the sun actually heats that up.
